I want to thank the Marion County Sheriff's Department for their quick response to our school yesterday, even though it was a false alarm. A person in our building who was trying to call another classroom accidentally entered the code for an intruder alert, which goes directly to the sheriff's office and sets off an alarm in the school. After a quick check, the person said they hit the wrong number and set it off. Even though we called them and said it was a false alarm, they came anyway just to be sure everything was okay. I can't compliment Sheriff Jeff Soyez and his department enough for the support they give us at Centre. They are always willing to help when needed and work with us to ensure we are as safe as possible. Thank you for your response yesterday and your continued support. And thank you Terri Bina for the picture!

The 8th grade promotion and 6-8 awards night is still planned for 7:00 tonight. I have talked with Emergency Management and the National Weather Service, and they feel we will be fine to go ahead even though we are in a tornado watch. Marion County will have Lester here with his command vehicle in case we need to monitor the weather more closely. Please pay attention to the instructions before the event tonight so you can know what to do in the unlikely event we need to proceed to the safe rooms. We know this is an important event for our students, but we also want to be as safe as possible. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

This is a reminder the Centre Grades 3-5 will have their field trip tomorrow to the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita. The bus will leave promptly at 8:15 so please be sure your child is on time to school tomorrow. There is a gift shop available for students, but we are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Pease send a sack lunch with your child unless they signed up for one provided by the school. Have them wear either their blue or red Centre shirt to school tomorrow. Also please do not send electronics or phones with your student.
